Jams On Toast — Delightful iOS music player, handcrafted for album lovers

“ Hello ProductHunters! I am a self-taught coder, this is my first published project. I built Jams On Toast because there are no music player apps that are focussed on providing a great experience for (the minority of) folks who still enjoy listening to albums cover to cover, or manually organizing their own libraries instead of scrolling through an endless alphabetized list. The iOS music app has gotten a little chaotic lately, with Apple trying to squeeze in streaming, social, radio etc. under one roof. Jams On Toast is a delightful, distraction-free and beautiful alternative to the stock music app. There are little flourishes everywhere, like an animated turntable up top; or the 'Read My Mind' feature, which lets you cue up the next album without futzing with a playback queue. There's a lot more that I would like to do with this project, but I think I've finally gotten to a point where I can put out a 1.0. Hope you enjoy using it, and I look forward to your feedback....

Your 2017 Review — A simple questionnaire to help you reflect on 2017

“ Reflection is important. Here's a quote @jasonshen shared on Medium a few weeks ago: “Extraordinary individuals stand out in the extent to which they reflect — often explicitly — on the events of their lives, large as well as small…by seizing the opportunity to leverage and frame these experiences, we gain agency over them. And this heightened agency, in turn, places us in a stronger position to deal with future experiences, even as it may alter our own sense of strengths and possibilities.” After reading a few articles on annual reviews, I realised there was some friction to actually spending time answering the questions. So I decided I'd set up a neat little suite w WP and Typeform to make sure that I answered them. I thought I'd share it here. It includes questions like: - What were the 3 toughest obstacles you faced? What did you do about them? What led to them? - What surprised you in the last year? What unknowns became known? - What were your biggest influences? Whi...

Chroma for Hue 3.0 — The best way to control your Philips Hue lights on macOS.

“ Hey everyone! Over the holiday weekend I brought a big update to an older app of mine: Chroma for Hue. It's a macOS controller for Philips Hue bulbs (and now compatible Zigbee bulbs linked to a Philips Hue bridge). This update finally brings Chroma to High Sierra, adds Scenes support, and includes a number of bug and performance fixes. If you use Philips Hue bulbs I hope you'll give Chroma a chance– and if you find Hue doesn't work with your lights, please let me know the model here or on Twitter so I can make a note of it! Tookapic 3.0 — Capture your life with one photo a day (365 Project).

“ Hi Product Hunt! My name is Pawel and I'm the founder of Tookapic - best place to start and manage your 365 project. It's a unique photography challenge. The goal is to take photos every day for a year. Tookapic was born as a side project after I finished my first 365 project on Tumblr. It was challenging because there was no incentives, no community around the idea of daily photo taking. So I decided to create one. Tookapic is now more than 30.000 users from all over the world sharing their everyday stories and photos. Here are just a few of the benefits of running your 365 project: - You will take better photos - it's almost impossible to get worse at something by doing it every day. The photos you see on Tookapic are mostly taken by amateurs who started their projects with no previous experience. Some of them are now making a living with photography. We had one amateur who sold his photo prints for $1800 a piece 😳 - You will learn a lot about yourself. This kind of pr...

Greater — Pop-up support group in your pocket

“ Hi everyone-- for years at Greatist we've been working to build the Weight Watchers of the future... and now we've launched Greater, a mobile app which pairs you with a small group of others people like you to do 30-day diets such as Paleo, vegan, and low-sugar (for $19.99 per track). It's basically a digital support group platform-- that comes with progress tracking, loads of content, and most importantly a safe and fun chat. The plan's to add lots more diets (and eventually non-diets) to the 30-day programs you can sign up for soon... and eventually we hope to move to a monthly, subscription-based offering. I'm hoping this is just the start of an ambitious vision to build THE support group platform everyone turns to whenever they want to get better. But, in the meantime, this is very much version 1.0 just in time for New Year's. Look forward to your feedback, ideas, and more! ” – Derek Flanzraich Discussion | Link

Colorglyph — Create and trade pixel glyphs with your friends

“ Pixel glyphs, there’s just something about them we love. Harkening back to simpler days and all that adolescent wasted time. This is now though, fast pace, go go go, high res and in your face. I don’t hate it most days, but at times it does leave me reminiscing about my childhood. Enter Colorglyph. However for the rest of us nerds and geeks Colorglyph is an interesting experiment in the cryptocurrency and blockchain space, specifically the Stellar Network . “ 👋 PH community, I am Ilya, and I am a maker of SheetAside. I've built this extension, so I can do my research and collect information without constant tab switching. The right panel of an extension will appear. Sign in with your Google Account. 4. Create a new document. 5. Insert rows from any tab! Vilfo — Protect your home with a VPN router

“ Ever since moving to the US, I have been using the VPN of https://OVPN.com. They add services and access locations on a regular basis, have solid and quick customer service and they are always looking for the next level in privacy protection. Already years ago the team behind OVPN offered a VPN pfSense-based router called OVPNbox. Vilfo is the result of their learning and experience with OVPNbox: a separate and improved product that has low entry for non-techies, while at the same time being very open to the more tech-savvy, EVEN offering REST-API control for almost all functionality. For the people that do not want to dive into the technicalities and are looking for a turn-key solution in in-house online privacy protection, I think that Vilfo is offering a convenient solution. ” – jan van iperen Discussion | Link

Coin Demo — Visual demonstration of how bitcoin transactions work

“ Hey PH! As Bitcoin rose to unprecedented levels, it caught my attention & curiosity. I wondered, how does bitcoin really work? As I went down the blockchain rabbit hole, I found that many resources rarely go beyond the “revolutionary”, “distributed” and “immutable” dialogue. Many talk about the what, but not so much the why and how. I resorted to reading technical papers and source code to uncover this black box. What I realized was bitcoin was just blockchain + transactions. This app will cover the transaction part of the equation. Hope you enjoy and find this app helpful! ” – Sean Han Discussion | Link

Jawger — Family-friendly social network for the privacy conscious

“ Hi PH, This is Scott, the founder of Jawger. I built Jawger to be a social network that puts our privacy first. For me, social networks had become too impersonal and polluted with creepy targeted advertisements. As a father, I wanted a safe place for my children to engage with family and friends online, capturing the world through their own eyes, and be included in the conversation without their profiles being captured. I personally believe privacy is a right, and we shouldn't have to sacrifice it to communicate online. I'm just getting started with Jawger...and I have many ideas to make Jawger even better. It's time for people interested in taking control of their privacy to tell me what they want from a social network that puts people first. After all isn't that the "social" in social network? Retina Check — Visualise images pixel density on any webpage

“ Hey all, I got tired of seeing blurry images on my retina screen and needed a way of testing if the website I’m building is fully retina-optimised. Made this Chrome extension: it calculates actual pixel density (based on the containers' sizing and aspect ratios) and colourises all images on the page accordingly: - red – too small, not enough pixels, stretched and blurry; - orange-yellow – OK-ish, could be a bit stretched, but not likely to get noticed. - green – all good; - magenta – too big, could make the image smaller and still look OK. The essential image optimisation tool for perfectionists. ” – Stas Kulesh Discussion | Link

15Five Best-Self Reviews — Our answer to the dreaded annual performance review.

“ I am excited to announce the release of Best-Self Reviews on Product Hunt! Here’s a bit of background into the product... It’s clear now to almost everyone in the world of HR that the old model of traditional, cumbersome, tedious, annual reviews are not only ineffective and “cost” more than the return they provide, but in many cases are actually detrimental to employees and the companies they work at. But periodic benchmarking and performance conversations between managers and employees are still very much needed. So what’s the solution? Our answer is the Best-Self Review, a revolutionary new performance management practice that shifts the context for employees from one where they are judged and graded, to being supported on their journey of continued success. Using research-backed question templates and the ability to aggregate an employee’s wins, challenges, and progress on key objectives, the Best-Self Review eliminates biases and steers the conversion toward growth and forward-lo...

Contra — A slick app for voicing your most honest opinions

“ Hey guys! When we put out v1 in high school a couple years ago (now freshmen at Stanford and Yale), we found a lot of young people using it to express themselves and talk really thoughtfully about important world problems in the context of their personal issues like sexuality, family conflicts, bullying experiences, etc. It was super inspiring. You couldn't find that element of thoughtfulness and openness amongst teens anywhere else. I got super hooked fast, and started arguing with people all around the world, on the platform I helped create. (It's super easy to get addicted, heh.) Contra got featured by Apple in multiple places like "Best New Apps" and "20 Under 20", among others. In general, the app was created because I would argue in Facebook comments a shit ton, but felt there lacked a single place online to talk about stuff. Facebook comments was way too cluttered, Twitter even worse (endless Twitter threads much?), and I didn't like Reddit'...

Aurelius v2 — Add, tag, organize and search all your user research notes

“ Hey everyone! I’m Zack, co-founder here at Aurelius :) Joseph and I started Aurelius 2 years ago building Aurelius to help people make better designs, products and features. Our focus has always been helping people build meaningful products that are focused on their customers. Aurelius v2 is focused on being the smartest user research and insights platform for design and product teams. Aurelius helps you add, tag, organize and search your user research notes and key insights so you can build awesome products and features. Some background: Joseph and I met while working at a large custom software shop in Minneapolis called The Nerdery. We realized that our job was less about “building the thing” and was more about helping people feel confident that they were building the “right” things. That meant helping them make the best decisions they could based on what their customers need. We did that through user research and understanding. That’s why we built Aurelius. The entire Aurelius tea...

Video Subtitle Maker — Add captions directly to your videos online

“ Hey Product Hunt! We saw some crazy stats online about subtitled videos and how subtitles make a HUGE difference in the reach of videos posted on social media. E.g. 85% of videos are watched without sound! But, adding subtitles directly to a video is really hard with traditional tools. So we wanted to create an easy way to do it online. The result is the Video Subtitle Maker - you can upload a video and in just a few steps add subtitles directly to your video for free! Hope this helps with engagement on your content. BaeLife — Your personal date night planner

“ Hi PH! So here's the deal. I built this because about a year ago, I met an amazing girl and now she's Bae. And although we talk a lot, (via snaps, bitmoji, imsg, gchat, email - the works), we still find ourselves in analysis paralysis when date night roles around. Should we go out? Stay in? What would we even cook? Is there anything good on TV tonight? And sometimes we're in her neighborhood and sometimes we're in mine. This isn't a life threatening problem, but it made me think: why can't I use technology to improve my relationship - so I can enjoy my time with Bae, rather than planning it. In other words, I decided to build some #BaeTech. Data comes from a variety of sources, but I think the 4sq integration (hi @dens) is the real coup de grace here. If you link up your 4sq account, it'll use your social graph to find places near you that your friends have liked & you can automagically save venues to a "BaeLife Faves" list for later. In case...

“ 👋 Hello Product Hunters! :) We're relaunching LetsLunch to help you connect with startups and and potential co-workers! 📖 Story LetsLunch started out as simple tool to connect you with like-minded people over lunch. 🚀 Now Since then we have set up nearly 100,000 lunches and learnt that the best lunches are resulting in job offers or referrals for users. “ Hello to everyone! My name is Simanas. I am 32 years old. I grew up and live in my beautiful country Lithuania. My life was never easy, but I was also very gifted by various possibilities and exciting things that happened to me and still happens. :) When I was at age of 12 my parents started to fight very badly and divorced when I was 18. It was the most scary and hurting time that I ever experienced in my life. In addition to that Lithuania as a country was just 10 years in to it's independence after breaking out of soviet union. So there were a lot of bad crimes going on around us, adults were depressed and all of that was going on to their children, which turned out as bad children behavior, which turned out in to the fact that 8 teachers out of 10 in school became psychopaths. We had and still have one of the highest suicide rate in the world. It was a hard time for me. It was a hard time for everyone here in Lithuania. "Sielvartas" - lithuanian word meaning sorrow ...

Chip — Easily raise money for charity using Slack

“ Hey there! Brock here from Josephmark – a digital product studio with offices in Brisbane, Los Angeles, Stockholm and Sydney. Our goal with Chip was to create a simple and effective Slack app to enable anyone in an office space to easily raise money for charity. Users can just type /chip into Slack and start chipping in. The idea stemmed from a niggling need for this app within our own team, so we knew we’d dig it when it was done. Do you, though? We’d love to know what you think. ” – Brock Kenzler Discussion | Link

LyrWP — WordPress themes / plugins / services curated.

“ Hey all, this will probably get blown out of the water, but it's my second hunt and it's mine. I'm not ashamed to state that! You've got to be in it to win it so to speak. Anyone who knows me from my minuscule corner of the web my own blog about WP, will know I'm not a big fan of the bigger WordPress blogs, with list posts and such. So I though to myself how can I showcase themes / plugins without ramming it down peoples throats and focus on independent WordPress developers? Well thanks @piotrkulpinski I came across the Chipmunk theme on Producthunt and kind of fell in love with it. So LyrWP was born. Readers can submit WordPress themes / plugins and services and explain what they are about, others can vote up and leave comments. I want a way to for people to find themes / plugins that are not the mainstream, not your multi-purpose generic one size fits all. I want a way for people to show what they have created with WordPress, be it a theme or plugin. So LyrWP wa...

“ Hey PH, Jake from Email Echelon here. My day job is a Sales Development Rep for a data protection startup called Virtru. I'm constantly finding new people I need to email every day and our team uses ZoomInfo to look up their email addresses. ZoomInfo is fantastic about 75% of the time, but often I'll run into prospects or leads that aren't listed there. Instead of creating permutations of all the possible emails and testing them one at a time, I decided it would be easier to just make an app that does that for me and enlisted the help of my buddy Rob to do that. Instead of just keeping this tool for ourselves, we figured we'd open it up to the world. A couple of tips: - You get three successful searches for free per account. Each search costs us a non-trivial amount so use them wisely :) - You only get charged a token for a successful search. The Perfect Grid — A creative’s guide to Instagram

“ Hello Product Hunt! Excited to share my very first product with you today! For me as a designer, the most important thing is to create great work. The second thing—which comes right after that—is to make sure a great work is seen. That’s why I have invested quite a lot of time into self-promotion in the past years and built a habit of documenting and sharing my work to attract new opportunities and connections. Instagram turned out to be one of the most powerful tools to help me with that lately, and I have decided to write a whole ebook about it. Written with creatives of all types and backgrounds in mind, The Perfect Grid covers the crucial aspects of the self-promotion process in six easy and actionable chapters: Get Inspired, Find Your Audience, Create Great Content, Develop Your Style, Build Effective Habits and Grow Your Audience. It’s a straightforward guide that encourages designers and creatives to share their work and lifestyle with as many people as possible. I want to sha...

Tabspace — Insights into software teams 🔍👀 from developers 👩‍💻👨‍💻

“ 👋 Hello Product Hunters! :) Tabspace is the first peer review community for software developers. It accepts anonymous reviews of software development teams from current and former employees, allowing employers and prospective employees to gain quantifiable insights into how engineering teams operate. Here is the problem we had as software engineers and solution we came up with. 👽 Problem No two development teams have the same approach to working. The approaches to developing a product and the interactions between the individuals and teams working on products and services vary enormously from company to company. As developers, we would regularly encounter the following obstacles when surveying the market for new roles: - Vague listing with set of generic requirements and benefits - Technical screening call (0.5 hrs - 1 hr) - Code challenge (3 hrs - 4hrs) These obstacles were all BEFORE we got a chance to speak to the company about the team, the role and the company's approach to...

Plot Airport Security Wait Times Bot — Real Time Wait Times before you leave to the airport!

“ Hey Product Hunters! Earlier this year, my team and I started down the path of selling our technology to airports. Our first conversation was with Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and after this initial call, we knew we were on to something big. Since that initial conversation, we have since installed our tech at LAX and Sacramento International Airport (SMF) and we are currently monitoring over 6,000,000 people per month through security checkpoints. Today, we are launching the world’s first ever chatbot that provides real time airport security wait times. No airport in the United States is using chatbots and the few airports internationally using chatbots are not using them to provide travelers with wait times. DropDesk — The all in one toolkit for coworking space operators.

“ The story: I founded a coworking space based on Long Island, NY (Bridgeworks Long Beach). After Hurricane Sandy, Long Beach was completely destroyed. The community needed places to work and a place to collaborate. We built our space and community from the ground up. While running and operating Bridgeworks, our team realized that most tools available to coworking spaces were subpar, expensive and did not really cover the important ideologies of a space. We built DropDesk to solve these pain-points. Our goal is to create the best toolkit for coworking owners and founders under one portal. Happy less stressed owners = more time for community and what make a space special. Where we are currently and how to get involved: We are operating a private beta of the platform (version 1). Twain — News app to escape your filter bubbles & discover new stuff

“ Hey everyone! This is Miran, from Twain. Our basic idea was to create a better way to read your news - even before fake news and filter bubbles became a huge public issue, we felt that social platforms were not the best way to discover new authors, topics, new sources. Social media's value propisition is to give you more content similar to the content you've already engaged with - which means that a Salon reader is much less likely to bump into Breitbart, and vice-versa. With Twain, that's both more likely, and more desirable. We don't do any kind of personalization - we're simply trying to recognize what's trending in the world right now. We launched back in April, and we've spent the last few months improving our algorithms and eliminating (admittedly, numerous) errors and issues. :) We now feel ready to present Twain to the world, and are eager to hear your comments and feedback. ” – Miran Pavic Discussion | Link

Salescamp — Grow virally with a super simple referral widget

“ Hey all! This is a project I began in 2014 because I was trying to integrate the Harry's Prelaunchr referral page and I thought that I could provide a way for technical + non-technical people to integrate their own with a simple embed widget. The project was abandoned in late 2014 until this summer when I decided to work most weekends to finish it. It's by no means perfect, but it's working and I'm always adding improvements. There have since been a few other players but Salescamp is still different in implementation so I felt it might still be useful for users :)! I built this as a popup because you can have it placed on any page, rather than sending users to a separate page. I think it works better that way! Future updates: • Bug fixes • Improve mobile use with a vertical reward timeline (coming very soon!) • Add 'pre-launch' functionality - users with a 'pre-launch/coming soon' landing page can integrate our campaign. Sketch 101 by Designlab — Learn Sketch in this free course w/ downloadable templates

“ Hey Product Hunt! 🙌 Harish here, one of Designlab’s co-founders. Wanted to introduce our brand new Sketch email course we’re launching today. * Why did we make this? 👨‍💻 We’re an online education company that’s all about teaching our students UI/UX design through hands-on project work and 1-on-1 mentorship — we think that these two elements are critical to a strong creative education. We’ve had a lot of success with both our month long course offerings and our flagship UX Academy online intensive. But, one thing we noticed with design beginners is that there’s a barrier with getting started with design tools. * Why Sketch? 🗒️ As a lot of UI/UX designers know - Sketch is a great way to get started in the field (versus diving straight into tools like Photoshop and Illustrator). We wanted to give our students (and anyone for that matter!) an easy-to-use guide on how to get started with Sketch, and teach them some basic skills on how to navigate and use the tool. * Why an email cours...

Linkgage Pixelfy — Retarget anyone who clicks on the links you share

“ Linkgage Pixelfy is the new kid on the block, shaking up how we retarget our audience and it’s dead simple to start. That same process that we’re all so familiar with: Get Content > Share on Social Media > Expect Engagement. The game has changed. Linkgage Pixelfy allows you to easily add people into your retargeting audience and your funnel simply by adding Re-targeting Pixels from Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google Adwords to the link you share. This means: - You no longer have to use engagement as your only growth signal - You get an accurate audience span based on relevant content you share from anywhere and anyone online - This is more than just a war of cookies Excited yet? That means, your ads about your new sneakers store, can be directed at an audience you only know too well, with content from media announcements in your industry, new releases from big brands, blog posts, lists, buzzfeed articles - the works. ” – Stanley Ojadovwa Discussion | Link

The Q — A live trivia game show by the founder of Yik Yak

“ A few days ago @alyssabereznak wrote about The Q in The Ringer , a unapologetic copy of HQ down to the name. Of course, this was inevitable and expect to see several spin offs surface across different verticals. Today a sports focused "HQ" launched called G.O.A.T (unrelated to LL Cool J, the sneaker app , or my favorite Twitter account ). We'll start saving them in this "HQ for X" collection . ” – Ryan Hoover Discussion | Link

Astronomer Clickstream — User event data routing for analytics

“ I’m Ry Walker, CEO. We built the SaaS edition of Astronomer as a low-friction, low-cost way to help you ingest and route user event data. Hope you give us a try. But we’re not stopping there… Because one-size-fits-all solutions from SaaS tools often don’t provide enough flexibility, the SaaS edition of Astronomer is a precursor to our forthcoming open and private cloud editions of the platform, which will help savvy data teams gain full control of their data routing stack without having to pay the full price of going it completely alone. Open/private cloud editions are in alpha testing, ping me if you’d like to kick tires (ry@astronomer.io). ” – Ry Walker Discussion | Link

Tenrocket 2.0 — Uber for great software

“ Happy Hunting! As most of us have realized, building an product is a fraction of the actual work of launching a startup. Just because you build it doesn't mean they will come. With that in mind, we're launching version 2.0 of Tenrocket. Our team has been focused on building software for startups and entreprenuers for the last few years and we're taking it up a notch with Tenrocket 2.0. Since much of the aid a founding team needs is outside of just building, we've revised our services now include: *Planning:* We walk our partners through what the problem they are trying to solve and who their end users are. In this process, we create user stories and wireframes for what can be created within their budget. *Development:* Yep, still $10k for 10 days. We believe that great software begins with a simple solution. We stay for the duration of the project as we work with awesome freelancers and agencies to build your idea. *Launch:* Even the greatest ideas can fail if not pro...
