“ Hi PH, I’m an Indiegogo backer who thought that our community would enjoy these bikes. I’ve been obsessively learning about these bikes since I backed the project, so I bet I can answer some of your questions. Some FAQs I’ve seen: Can I have it now? * No. It’s an Indiegogo project that's fully funded ($550k currently) and they anticipate shipping the bikes in September. Is it street legal? * Yes, in most states, as long as you ride under 20-25mph. Both bikes have limiter switches that keep the bike in legal range. Do I need a license to ride these? * In most states, no. Both bikes are limited to 750 watts, or 125/50cc, which disqualifies them from official classification as motorcycles. Tell me about the two models. * The RCR: 75mi max range, 60mph top speed, $2600 preorder. And the CTY: 40mi max range, 30mph top speed, $1875 preorder. Can you pedal these? * Yes, but they are one speed, like a fixie. Similar to mopeds from the 70’s and 80’s. What about security? * You’ll be able to lock the bike via an app and slide off the battery (similar to the Super 73’s). Beyond that, a motorcycle disc brake lock or a heavy duty bicycle chain lock would be your best bet. What else is fancy about them? * Regenerative braking, replaceable batteries, an off-road upgrade kit, customizable power/performance settings via an app, 3 speed modes, LCD display, and a USB charger in case your phone dies.
